Health and Safety
The number of missed school days non-vaccinated students experience due to being a close contact of someone with COVID-19 is now reduced to 10 days or it may be less with a confirmed negative COVID lab test. This change at our schools comes in collaboration with the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. You will still work closely with our COVID Supervisor, Mrs. Sage who will walk you through the process. If you would like more information, please visit our COVID-19 Health and Safety website.
TPS Virtual Financial Aid Support Nights

Our winter sports season starts on Monday, November 15 (Girls bowling starts November 1). Sports offered during the winter season are boys and girls basketball, girls bowling, girls flag football, boys swim and dive, and boys and girls wrestling. Please find athletic information on the Stadium Athletics website. All student athletes must register using the Final Forms registration system. To participate, student athletes need to have all forms completed and have a valid sports physical submitted and reviewed prior to the first day of practice.
If you have any questions about athletics, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Remote Learning during Inclement Weather?
Now that every student has access to a laptop or learning device, we need your input to determine if school should switch to remote learning during weather events such as snow days. Click here to let us know what works best for you and your student.
Two Levies on February Ballot
In February, you will see two replacement levies from Tacoma Public Schools on your ballot.
- Proposition 1, the Educational Programs and Operations Levy, would fund about 15% of school district operations, including about 500 staff members.
- Proposition 2, the Technology Improvements and Upgrades Levy, would fund technology access for all K-12 students.
Both levies would replace expiring levies that impact every TPS K-12 student in every neighborhood. I’ll share more information about the levies as we get closer to the election.
Please don’t forget that early bird pricing ($50) ends on November 30. The deadline for senior portraits is December 1. Please review the specifications and other details online at our yearbook website.
We have two departure times for our activity buses: one at 4:30 PM one and at 6:00 PM. The bus plans to arrive early but will depart on time. Drop offs will be at the three NE elementary schools.
Students who would like an ORCA card to access Pierce Transit and other local transportation, may see one of our attendance specialists.
Seniors: The Act Six application is open and the deadline has been extended to November 30. This year, Act Six will award 30 of Tacoma-Seattle’s most promising urban leaders full scholarships worth up to $245,000 at five partner colleges. Learn more and start your application at https://www.actsix.org/apply/.
Juniors: The Palmer Scholars application is open and closes on November 17. Palmer Scholars provides post-secondary readiness training, mentoring, financial assistance and support for up to six years! Learn more and start your application at https://palmerscholars.smapply.io/.
Have a wonderful week, Tigers!
