This is Principal Shannon Marshall with some important updates.

Health and Safety
I know we’re all doing our best to keep our students healthy as we get back to our school routine. A key part in keeping our entire school community healthy is by staying home when we aren’t feeling well.
If your student has ANY of these symptoms, please complete the Health Survey in the Family App and keep them home from school:
- Fever of 100.4 or higher
- Loss of taste or smell
- Shortness of breath
- Muscle or body aches
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
When they can return to school is based on their specific symptoms. Please see the flowchart created by the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department to understand the steps to follow when your student shows any of the symptoms listed above.
This is a reminder that all Tacoma Schools operate on a closed campus policy. When students arrive at school, they must remain on campus until dismissal, unless excused through the Attendance Office.
As we are resuming our school routines, please do not hesitate to visit our Online Handbook for information.
Healthy Youth Survey
Our school is participating in the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey during fall 2021. The survey will be given to students in Grades 10 and 12. The Healthy Youth Survey includes questions related to health risks and protective factors and access to school-based services. Survey results are used by schools, communities, and state agencies to plan programs to support our youth and reduce their risks. Participation in the survey is voluntary and the students’ answers are anonymous. Our school will administer the survey online. A Guardian and Student Notification Letter is attached to this email to provide more information about the Healthy Youth Survey.
Career Center Update
This week during lunches in the Career Center, Mrs. Junderson will host representatives from the University of Utah, Concordia University Irvine and Washington State University. Please eat in one of our designated areas and then make your way to the Career Center.
Seniors: The FAFSA and WASFA Financial Aid applications officially open on Friday, October 1st. You should apply for financial aid as soon after October 1st as possible. You do not need to know whether or where you plan to go to school or what programs you might be interested in to file for financial aid and it is free to do so. For more information and support, see Mrs. Junderson.
Have a wonderful week, Tigers!
