Lincoln’s Oliviyah Edwards named McDonald’s All-American; big winter post-season success for TPS student-athletes

Tacoma Public Schools is proud to celebrate Lincoln High School senior Oliviyah Edwards being named to the McDonald’s All-American Team.

The McDonald’s All-American selection is one of the most prestigious honors in high school basketball, recognizing the top players in the nation. With this achievement, Edwards joins an elite group of athletes who have gone on to shape the game at the collegiate and professional levels.

A 6-foot-4 power forward, she averaged 30 points, 25 rebounds, and 4 assists per game this season. Even while facing constant double- and triple-teams, she consistently elevated her team and delivered standout performances, including games of 48, 40, and 38 points.

A University of Tennessee commit and five-star recruit, Edwards is widely regarded as the #2 recruit in the country. She is ranked among the nation’s elite in the Class of 2026 and has earned national attention with scholarship offers from programs including LSU, South Carolina, and USC before choosing to continue her career with the Lady Volunteers.

Her selection also marks a continued presence for Washington State on the national stage, as this is the second consecutive year a Washington athlete will compete in the McDonald’s All-American Game. This year’s game is March 31 in Phoenix and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Edwards is also the Gatorade Washington Girls Basketball Player of the Year, the highest honor in high school athletics, recognizing excellence in performance, academics and community impact. In addition, she earned Second Team Naismith All-American honors and was named the 2026 Washington State Player of the Year by The News Tribune, along with Tacoma Athletic Commission Girls Basketball Player of the Year.

Her impact extends beyond basketball. She maintains a 3.50 GPA and demonstrates a strong commitment to the Tacoma community through volunteer work at the Eastside Community Center and the Bethlehem Baptist Church Holiday Give Away. She has also invested in youth by helping organize and lead local basketball camps.

“She’s a good basketball player, but she’s an even better human being,” said Lincoln head coach Melanie Jones.
