Tiger Day
Tiger Day will be Wednesday, August 26, from 8:00AM-12:00PM. Students will have their school photos taken, receive their ASB/ID card, and get assistance with laptop and transportation needs. Photos can be purchased on mylifetouch.com using code: EVTS8ZK42. This event is a drop in; students can attend the time that works best for them within the 8:00 AM-12:00 PM window.
Introducing our new AP
Kainoa Higgins will step in as our interim assistant principal for the time being. Kainoa comes to Stadium after having been at iDEA High School. Kainoa has a diverse background of experience and is excited to jump in and support Stadium students and families.
Cell Phone & Electronic Device Policy at Stadium High School
As a reminder Stadium High School is operating under a no electronics policy rolled out during the 25-26 school year. The building‑wide policy will continue this year and is designed to help students stay focused, minimize distractions, and make the most of their learning time. Research and experience show that reducing personal device use during class leads to stronger engagement and academic success.
Beginning the first day of school, all students and staff will follow this policy:
- No personal device use during class time (bell to bell) – this includes cell phones, tablets, earbuds, headphones, and other personal electronic devices.
- Devices must be silent, out of sight, and kept in bags during class.
- When leaving class for any reason (bathroom, etc.), students will leave devices in their bag in the classroom.
- Personal devices will not be used for independent work time or as a reward during class.
- Phones may be used before school, during lunch, and after school.
To ensure students have the tools they need for learning, all students are provided with a district‑issued laptop. Families should make sure laptops are fully charged each night, so students are prepared for class.
Please refrain from calling or texting your student during the school day. If you need to reach them urgently while they are in class, contact our main office and we will notify them on your behalf. Phones used during class time will be confiscated, regardless of who the student is communicating with.
When a phone is confiscated:
- The device will be held in an assistant principal’s office until the end of the school day.
- Repeated violations may result in a parent/guardian being required to pick up the phone and could lead to additional consequences.
Thank you for partnering with us in creating a focused and positive learning environment for all Stadium Tigers as we begin this school year together!
School Pictures and Student ID
Students are required to have their picture taken for their ASB/ID cards. This picture will also be used in the yearbook. (Senior portraits will be accepted in the fall.) Because school-issued ASB/ID cards and yearbooks may be used as official identification, students must be in school-appropriate attire for their school picture. If you are unable to attend Freshman Jump Start or Tiger Day, School Picture Day is Friday, September 11.
Stadium Handbook
The Stadium Handbook is available online. This handbook contains important information, including details about attendance, cell phones, health & wellness, Stadium’s closed campus, dress code, visitors, and much more. You will also find valuable information in the TPS District Handbook. Please visit these websites to review these materials with your student.
Review/Update Information – ACTION REQUIRED
Tacoma Public Schools shares important information by email, phone, text, website, mail, and social media. It is important that we have current contact information and emergency contacts for our records. Use ParentVUE to review and update your information and complete annual required forms needed for the start of school. Required information includes health history and contact information.
As our teachers are meeting their students, it is very helpful to know the correct pronunciation of students’ names. Please login to ParentVUE or Student VUE, select the student, click the speaker icon next to the student name, and record the pronunciation. Our teachers and staff thank you!
New Student Tours
Students who missed Freshman Jump Start or who are new to Stadium, may take a new student tour on Tuesday, September 8. Due to tour guide availability, this tour is for our students only. New students who have completed the enrollment process will meet their student guides outside the main doors at the Blue ‘S’ at 1:00 PM or 1:30 PM for a tour.
New students may pick up their TPS student laptop at the end of their new student tour.
Medications at School
If your student needs to take medication at school, including over-the-counter medication, you and your student’s doctor must sign a permission form that will remain on file in the Health Room. The medication must be in its original container. If it is a prescription, it must have your student’s name and current orders/instructions on the label. The medication must be brought to the Health Room by a parent or guardian. If the medication is for a life-threatening condition, the medication and current doctor’s orders must be in the Health Room prior to the first day of school. Please contact our school nurse, Nurse Sarah, to make arrangements. For more information about Health and Wellness, please visit the district’s website.
School Meals
Tacoma Public Schools provides breakfast and lunch for every student enrolled at a school where meals are served. All students can have a complete breakfast and lunch without any need to qualify for free or reduced meals.
A full school meal is available to your student, even if they bring food from home. They must select at least three meal components, including a fruit or vegetable, but they are welcome to take the complete meal if they choose.
Senior Parking
Once school begins, the Stadium High School parking garage is reserved for registered vehicles driven by Stadium staff and students. Parking in the garage is limited, and available only to seniors via a lottery system.
Seniors have been notified via school email whether or not they received a space in the lottery. We have compiled a waitlist for those seniors not drawn.
If you drive to school and do not have a parking sticker, you may use local street parking during the school day. Students may not park in permitted parking areas or spaces reserved for our neighboring apartment communities.
Please contact Mr. Tuman if you have questions regarding senior parking.
Scholarship Opportunity
The Gates Scholarship (TGS) is a highly selective scholarship for outstanding high school seniors from low-income households. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential. The application deadline is September 15 at 2:00 PM. For more information, please review The Gates Scholarship Fact Sheet and TGS website.

Stadium Business Office
Families may use MySchoolBucks in ParentVUE to purchase the following items:
- ASB Membership* $30
- Pay to Participate** $90 (per sports season)
- Stadium Yearbook*** $55 (price increases December 1)
Students will receive one complimentary photo ID card when their school photo is taken. Replacement cards are $5. To ensure your ID includes the ASB indicator, please purchase ASB before your photo is taken.
* ASB membership is required for all students participating in clubs, music, and/or athletics and it provides free admission to regular season athletic contests and reduced admission rates to other ASB activities.
🎟️ Don't Miss This Important Step!
Whether your student is joining a sport, club, activity, or simply purchasing their ASB Card, all purchases must be completed through MySchoolBucks.
Families who qualify for Free/Reduced benefits: Your ASB Card and other eligible items may show a $0.00 balance, but you still need to add them to your cart and complete the checkout process.
Completing the $0 purchase:
- ✅ Records your student's eligibility
- ✅ Allows the school to track purchases
- ✅ Ensures your student receives the benefits they're entitled to
A $0 balance doesn't mean it's automatic—it still needs to be "purchased" in MySchoolBucks.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to complete this important step!
**Pay to Participate is required for all student athletes prior to competing in their first contest of the season.
***Order your yearbook now! Pre‑orders help us determine how many copies to print, and last spring we sold out. Reserve your yearbook now to guarantee you get one in the spring.
If you have any questions or need to make financial arrangements, please contact Mrs. Rogers in the Stadium Business Office.
Reminders from last week…
School Supplies
To start the school year, in addition to their TPS student laptop, Stadium students will need general supplies like pens, paper, pencils, and tools to help them stay organized. Each teacher will communicate with students if there are specific items needed for their class. If you need assistance with school supplies, please contact Mrs. Harkness, our Guidance Secretary.
Stadium Athletics
Cross country, golf, girls soccer, girls swim & dive, boys tennis, girls volleyball, and boys water polo start on Monday, August 24. Please find athletic information on the Stadium Athletics website.
All student athletes must register using the Final Forms registration system. To participate, student athletes need:
- All forms completed through Final Forms
- 2026-27 ASB membership
- 2026-27 Pay to Participate (more info below)

TPS Athletics – Pay to Participate
Tacoma Public Schools has a “pay to participate” model to help sustain our athletic programs. Fees will support the rising costs of uniforms, equipment, transportation, coaches, and officials. The tiered fee schedule is:
- Students who qualify for free/reduced lunch: $0
- Other students: $90 per high school sport
- Family Plan: $400 maximum per household across all sports and grade levels
Pay to Participate is required for all student-athletes prior to their first competition. If your assessed fee is $0, please still be sure to process your $0 payment so we can ensure your participation is not delayed.
Credit Card Processing Fees
A new update to Credit Card purchases this year includes a processing fee.
- All online credit card payments will incur a 4.95% fee.
- In person purchases will incur a variable fee based on cost.
Find more information in the attached flyer.
Transportation for Stadium Athletics
During the summer, we understand it can be difficult to coordinate transportation to athletic practices. As a reminder all TPS students may ride Pierce Transit with their school ID.
Due to the limited Pierce Transit options in Northeast Tacoma, there will be an activity bus to and from NET so students may attend fall athletic practices without transportation barriers.
Please remember that students need to be fully cleared by Stadium Athletics before they attend a practice.
