Stadium Weekly, 09/06/2026
Good afternoon, Stadium Students and Families.
This is Interim Principal Alex Tuman with your weekly message.
We encourage families to use our online options for payments and communication. Payments can be made through MySchoolBucks via ParentVUE: MySchoolBucks Online Payments - Tacoma Public Schools. For additional questions, you may email us at stadium@tacoma.k12.wa.us.
Daily Schedule (Download and print school calendars.)
On Tuesday, September 8, we will provide tours for enrolled 10th-12th grade students who are new to Stadium. Please see details below.
Wednesday, September 9, is the first day of school. There will be no late start for the first day of school. School will start promptly at 8:15 AM.
Picture day will be September 11 for those students who could not get their picture taken during Jump Start or Tiger Day
Stadium Boosters movie in the bowl will be Saturday September 19. Buy tickets here: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/10-things-i-hate-about-you-3
Back to school night will be Monday, October 5 from 5:30-7:30 PM.
Save the Date: The Homecoming Dance is Saturday, October 17.
First Day of School
As a reminder the first day of school is Wednesday, September 9th. There will be NO late start. School will start promptly at 8:15 AM. School will end at 2:45 PM.
The first late start will be Wednesday, September 16th. School will start at 9:15 AM.
Student Drop off/Pick-Up
If you are driving your student to Stadium, use the turnaround at the end of 2nd Street by the flagpole. Stadium Way is for buses only – do not stop on Stadium Way. This is extremely important as Sound Transit’s Hilltop Tacoma Link Extension trains run right next to our primary bus zone. We have over twenty school buses that go to and from Stadium each day, and for our students’ safety, especially with the light rail trains, the bus zone is painted red and is reserved for bus use only.
Student Schedules
Students, if you are unable to access your classes through StudentVUE or ParentVUE, you may pick up a hard copy of your schedule in the main gym before school on September 9. If you can access your information, you DO NOT NEED to report to the main gym on the first day. Make sure to have your schedule with room numbers easily accessible on your TPS student laptop.
Students must go to their scheduled classes every period, every day. The counselors will be unavailable for meetings the first few days of school so they can prioritize scheduling new students. Student schedules were created based on student course requests and graduation requirements. We are unable to make schedule changes due to our enrollment. If you are in an incorrect class or level, you can use the course correction form from the Stadium Scheduling Hub. Our schedule correction form will open on Friday, September 11, at 3:00 PM. Thank you for your patience.
Student Lunches
Stadium has two lunches, and students may eat in the cafeteria, the courtyard, or have “quiet lunch” on the 2nd Floor Stage. On the first day of school, your 3rd period teacher will notify you if you have 1st lunch or 2nd lunch. If you have 1st lunch, go to lunch BEFORE 4th period. If you have 2nd lunch, go to lunch AFTER 4th period. No student will have both lunches.
New Student Tours
Students who missed Freshman Jump Start or who are new to Stadium, may take a new student tour on Tuesday, September 8. Due to tour guide availability, this tour is for our students only. New students who have completed the enrollment process will meet their student guides outside the main doors at the Blue ‘S’ at 1:00 PM or 1:30 PM for a tour.
New students may pick up their TPS student laptop at the end of their new student tour.
Catching the bus
If your child plans to take the bus to school, please download our free transportation app, My Ride K-12, for bus stop location, route and pickup times. Your child’s bus route should be available now!
School Pictures and Student ID
Students are required to have their picture taken for their ASB/ID cards. This picture will also be used in the yearbook. (Senior portraits will be accepted in the fall.) Because school-issued ASB/ID cards and yearbooks may be used as official identification, students must be in school-appropriate attire for their school picture. Picture day will be Friday, September 11 for students who were unable to attend Jump Start or Tiger Day.
Stadium Athletics Tickets
To help expedite entry into events you can purchase tickets and passes in advance for all Stadium sporting events through GoFan: https://gofan.co/
Technology help
Please ensure your child's school laptop is updated, charged and ready to bring on the first day of school by plugging it in, connecting to Wi-Fi, and leaving it on overnight. New students will be provided with a laptop, a charging cord and help to set up their school account when school begins.
Stadium Handbook
All grades will participate in an expectations assembly on Thursday, September 10th to review school expectations and rules.
The Stadium Handbook is available online. This handbook contains important information, including details about attendance, cell phones, health & wellness, Stadium’s closed campus, dress code, visitors, and much more. You will also find valuable information in the TPS District Handbook. Please visit these websites to review these materials with your student.
Keep on track with school calendars
Stay on top of the school calendar throughout the year! You can download school calendars here or order a printed copy in MySchoolBucks.
Lockers
Requests for lockers will be taken electronically starting on September 9. We would like students to experience their schedule and carefully plan for their locker location. Students will find the QR code to the locker form outside the main office and the business office. Students may also access the Locker Request 26-27 from their TPS Office 365 account.
Visitors & Volunteers
Parents/Guardians are welcome at Stadium High School during the day by appointment and in the evening for events. Upon entering the building during school hours, visitors must sign in at the main office.
Tacoma Public School’s volunteer registration process requires that all parents/guardians and community members complete a Volunteer Form and a Washington State Patrol Criminal History background check before volunteering. You must complete the volunteer registration form each school year, so if you would like to volunteer in the 2026-27 school year, please complete a new form. Forms are available on the Tacoma Public Schools volunteer website. Forms should be completed a minimum of two (2) weeks prior to volunteering.
Reminders from last week…
Cell Phone & Electronic Device Policy at Stadium High School
As a reminder Stadium High School is operating under a no electronics policy rolled out during the 25-26 school year. The building‑wide policy will continue this year and is designed to help students stay focused, minimize distractions, and make the most of their learning time. Research and experience show that reducing personal device use during class leads to stronger engagement and academic success.
Beginning the first day of school, all students and staff will follow this policy:
- No personal device use during class time (bell to bell) – this includes cell phones, tablets, earbuds, headphones, and other personal electronic devices.
- Devices must be silent, out of sight, and kept in bags during class.
- When leaving class for any reason (bathroom, etc.), students will leave devices in their bag in the classroom.
- Personal devices will not be used for independent work time or as a reward during class.
- Phones may be used before school, during lunch, and after school.
To ensure students have the tools they need for learning, all students are provided with a district‑issued laptop. Families should make sure laptops are fully charged each night, so students are prepared for class.
Please refrain from calling or texting your student during the school day. If you need to reach them urgently while they are in class, contact our main office and we will notify them on your behalf. Phones used during class time will be confiscated, regardless of who the student is communicating with.
When a phone is confiscated:
- The device will be held in an assistant principal’s office until the end of the school day.
- Repeated violations may result in a parent/guardian being required to pick up the phone and could lead to additional consequences.
Thank you for partnering with us in creating a focused and positive learning environment for all Stadium Tigers as we begin this school year together!
Review/Update Information – ACTION REQUIRED
Tacoma Public Schools shares important information by email, phone, text, website, mail, and social media. It is important that we have current contact information and emergency contacts for our records. Use ParentVUE to review and update your information and complete annual required forms needed for the start of school. Required information includes health history and contact information.
As our teachers are meeting their students, it is very helpful to know the correct pronunciation of students’ names. Please login to ParentVUE or Student VUE, select the student, click the speaker icon next to the student name, and record the pronunciation. Our teachers and staff thank you!
Scholarship Opportunity
The Gates Scholarship (TGS) is a highly selective scholarship for outstanding high school seniors from low-income households. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential. The application deadline is September 15 at 2:00 PM. For more information, please review The Gates Scholarship Fact Sheet and TGS website.
Stadium Business Office
Families may use MySchoolBucks in ParentVUE to purchase the following items:
- ASB Membership* $30
- Pay to Participate** $90 (per sports season)
- Stadium Yearbook*** $55 (price increases December 1)
Students will receive one complimentary photo ID card when their school photo is taken. Replacement cards are $5. To ensure your ID includes the ASB indicator, please purchase ASB before your photo is taken.
* ASB membership is required for all students participating in clubs, music, and/or athletics and it provides free admission to regular season athletic contests and reduced admission rates to other ASB activities.
🎟️ Don't Miss This Important Step!
Whether your student is joining a sport, club, activity, or simply purchasing their ASB Card, all purchases must be completed through MySchoolBucks.
Families who qualify for Free/Reduced benefits: Your ASB Card and other eligible items may show a $0.00 balance, but you still need to add them to your cart and complete the checkout process.
Completing the $0 purchase:
- ✅ Records your student's eligibility
- ✅ Allows the school to track purchases
- ✅ Ensures your student receives the benefits they're entitled to
A $0 balance doesn't mean it's automatic—it still needs to be "purchased" in MySchoolBucks.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to complete this important step!
**Pay to Participate is required for all student athletes prior to competing in their first contest of the season.
***Order your yearbook now! Pre‑orders help us determine how many copies to print, and last spring we sold out. Reserve your yearbook now to guarantee you get one in the spring.
If you have any questions or need to make financial arrangements, please contact Mrs. Rogers in the Stadium Business Office.
School Supplies
To start the school year, in addition to their TPS student laptop, Stadium students will need general supplies like pens, paper, pencils, and tools to help them stay organized. Each teacher will communicate with students if there are specific items needed for their class. If you need assistance with school supplies, please contact Mrs. Harkness, our Guidance Secretary.
Have a great week, Tigers!
