TPS Student Trip to China
Calling all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade Tigers! Tacoma Public Schools is offering a summer experience to China. In the summer and fall of 2024 Stadium and TPS students traveled to China, and this summer, we will have that opportunity again!
Students are tentatively scheduled to travel from July 8-18 and are scheduled to visit Fuzhou, Tacoma’s Sister City; Shenzhen; Guangzhou; and Beijing. TPS has strong relationships with schools and agencies in China, which makes this trip mostly free. Students and families will pay for the passport, the visa to enter China, and personal spending while in China.
If you are interested in applying for this amazing opportunity with other Tiger students, please come to the informational meeting in the Career Center (Room 117) during your lunch this Monday, March 31 with Mrs. Marshall & Mr. Tuman. We will outline some details about the trip as well as highlight some experiences from past trips.

Summer Credential Programs
TPS has partnered with industry experts to provide free summer programs in which students can learn career skills, obtain certifications, and earn a completion stipend and credit toward graduation. Programs can even lead directly to employment opportunities.
Applications are open now for these opportunities. Learn more and apply: bit.ly/SummerCred by the beginning of May.
Screen Time and Mental Health
Setting healthy screen-time habits at home can make a big difference for everyone's mental well-being—teens and adults alike. Try creating screen-free zones like the dining room or bedrooms, and set times when devices are put away, especially during meals or before bed.
Encourage a mix of activities—getting outside, reading something for fun, or just hanging out as a family without screens. Talk together about how too much screen time can affect sleep, mood, and focus. Using built-in screen time settings or parental controls can help manage usage while respecting privacy and age-appropriateness.
