Reminders from last week…
World Language Competency Exam
The World Language Competency Exam is an opportunity for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students to earn up to four (4.0) high school credits in a world language. Students may earn the Washington State Seal of Biliteracy when they demonstrate competency in English and a world language.
Students, are you a heritage speaker and fluent in reading, writing, listening, and speaking a language other than English? If so, we encourage you to schedule an exam with our school's World Language Assessment Liaison, Mrs. Kurkova. Please email her at kcarbon@tacoma.k12.wa.us. The registration deadline is November 3. The exam will take place in December and those testing will receive more information.
The General Election is Tuesday, November 7. Seniors, if you will be 18 by election day, you may register and vote in this election.
There are three ways to register to vote: online, by mail, and in person. Find out more about how to register here. The deadline to register online and by mail is Monday, October 30. The deadline to register in person is November 7.
Exciting news! 16 and 17-year-olds can now pre-register to vote. Those under the age of 18 will have their registrations held until they become eligible to vote.
Tacoma Student Government Day
Tacoma Student Government Day is November 28, 2023. This is a great opportunity for our high school students to learn more about city government. Last year students took a walking tour with public works, went to the fire department training facility, visited Urban Waters, had lunch with the mayor and city council members, held a mock city council meeting, and were recognized at the real city council meeting.
Applications are due on November 19, 2023. To apply and/or read more about Student Government Day, please visit Student Government Day - City of Tacoma.
Have a wonderful week, Tigers!
