This is Principal Shannon Marshall with some important updates.
Daily Schedule
Wednesday, October 30, is a late start day. School will start at 9:15 AM and buses will run one hour later.
Wednesday, October 30, is Stadium’s Enrollment Information Night for 8th grade students and their families.
Tickets for Stadium’s Production of Frozen
Tickets for Stadium High School’s Fall Musical, Frozen, go on sale on October 30.
Pre-sale tickets are $12 and students with ASB may buy one $10 ticket at the Stadium Business Office. Pre-sale prices end at the end of lunches on November 7, and the ticket price will increase to $15.
Showtimes are at 7:00 PM on November 21, 22, and 23. We will have 1:30 PM matinees performances on November 23 and 24.
World Language Competency Exam
The World Language Competency Exam is an opportunity for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students to earn up to four (4.0) high school credits in a world language. Students may earn the Washington State Seal of Biliteracy when they demonstrate competency in English and a world language.
Students, are you a heritage speaker and fluent in reading, writing, listening, and speaking a language other than English? If so, we encourage you take the World Language Competency Exam with our school's World Language Assessment Liaison, Mrs. Fisher. Please email her at lfische@tacoma.k12.wa.us. The registration deadline is November 15. The exam will take place this winter and those testing will receive more information.
College & Career Center Update
Mikaela Mattes with the College Success Foundation welcomes students into the College and Career Center before school and during lunches Monday-Thursday. She provides after school opportunities for students, as follows:
- “Motivation Monday” on Monday, October 28, from 2:45-4:00 PM
- “Tackle It Tuesday” on Tuesday, October 29, from 2:45-4:00 PM
- “Young, Black, and Thriving” on Thursday, October 31, from 2:45-4:00 PM
Students will be able to receive support working on financial aid, scholarships, and all things college related. Please visit Mikaela Mattes’ website for more information about college planning and scholarship opportunities.

Stadium Honor Society Tutoring
It’s here! Stadium Honor Society will begin tutoring after school on Tuesday, October 22. Honor Society students will be available after school on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2:50-3:45 PM. They will provide help in all subjects and are excited to help our Stadium Tigers roar with academic success.
COPE Health Junior Scholar
To all HCA and healthcare-interested students, the next due date to apply to be a COPE Health Junior Scholar is November 1. The link to submit an interest form and receive more information is join.copehealthscholars.org/interest.
FAFSA Beta Testing Night
Attend the College Success Foundation's FAFSA Beta Testing Night for the Class of 2025 on Monday, November 4, anytime between 5:00 -7:30 PM in the Stadium High School Library to have early access to submit your FAFSA application. Please note that this is a Beta Testing session and there may be issues that arise that prevent you from fully completing the FAFSA application that the Department of Education wants to identify before the FAFSA application officially opens on December 1, 2024. If an application is successfully submitted during the open window, students will have their FAFSA application completed for the 2025-2026 academic school year.

Senior Yearbook Photos
Senior portraits for the Stadium yearbook are due December 1, 2024. Only senior portraits uploaded through the Walsworth yearbook website by the firm deadline will be included. You may find details at Yearbook - Stadium High School (tacomaschools.org). Please direct any questions to Mrs. Walz, the yearbook advisor.
Scholarship Opportunities
Leadership 1000 Scholarship – The Leadership 1000 Scholarship awards funding to certain high school seniors attending eligible high schools or students enrolled in CSF’s College Services who are enrolled or planning to enroll in a Washington state college or university. The scholarship is renewable and available in amounts up to $5,000 per academic year for students who demonstrate financial need. Scholars receive career and financial aid guidance as well as networking opportunities with CSF Alumni and scholarship donors to ensure they graduate with a college degree and achieve success in life.
To be considered for the Leadership 1000 Scholarship, students must:
- have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
- plan to enroll at an eligible Washington state college or university starting fall 2025
- have resided in Washington state for at least one year prior to enrolling in college
- file a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or the free Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA)
- have a family income that doesn’t exceed the program’s requirement
