Good afternoon, Stadium Students and Families,

This is Principal Shannon Marshall with some important updates.

Thank you to Coach Johnson and our amazing ASB students for creating a homecoming to remember.

Congratulations to Coach Johnson who was honored by the WIAA in its September Salute to Coaches. The WIAA has teamed up with the U.S. Army to recognize some of the most outstanding coaches in Washington.

Daily Schedule

Wednesday, November 1 is a Late Start Day. School will start promptly at 8:35 AM and buses will run one hour later.

All 9th graders will be receiving new laptops and power cords on Wednesday, November 1 during their biology class. All freshmen MUST bring their school-issued laptop and power cord to school on November 1. The district may be charging families for lost items.

Tickets for Stadium Theatre’s production of Almost, Maine will be on sale starting Wednesday, November 1.

Friday, November 3 is the deadline for 10-12th graders to register for the World Language Competency Exam. You will find more information further down in this email.

For your advanced planning, the Stadium High School winter sports parent/guardian information meeting will be at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, November 7 in the main gym.

There will be no school on Friday, November 10 in observance of Veterans Day.

Important – Attendance Updates

For student safety, we strive to maintain accurate attendance records, including accurate arrival and dismissal times. Please review these attendance reminders.

  • Excusing Students in ParentVUE

Parents/Guardians are able to excuse their students from school using the ParentVUE app. This works well when a student is absent for the ENTIRE SCHOOL DAY. Unfortunately, ParentVUE is unable to accept partial day absences.

  • Arriving Late/Leaving Early

It is best to schedule appointments outside of the school day, but if your student will be arriving to school late or leaving school early, email stadiumattendance@tacoma.k12.wa.us. Please communicate with our attendance office prior to the day of the absence whenever possible.

  • Going Home Ill

If your student is ill and needs to leave school early, please remind them to get a pass to the health room and our staff will coordinate with a parent/guardian for them to leave school.

Students must ALWAYS have parent/guardian permission and check out with the nurse or attendance office PRIOR to leaving school early.

Honoring Our Veterans

On Thursday, November 9, Stadium will host its annual Veterans Day Assembly. If you are a veteran and would like to attend this assembly, please RSVP to Captain Mike Parker and Senior Chief Gamorro Cameron, our NJROTC Instructors. As students will fill the bleachers, we need to know how many seats to have available on the floor. You will receive more details when you RSVP. Thank you for your service!

Winter Athletics

The winter sports season starts on Monday, November 13 (Bowling starts on October 30 and Flag Football start date is TBD). If you are interested in Boys or Girls Basketball, Girls Bowling, Girls Flag Football, Boys Swim & Dive, or Boys or Girls Wrestling this is your season! Please find athletic information on the Stadium Athletics website. All student athletes must register using the Final Forms registration system. To participate, student athletes need to have all forms completed and a valid sports physical submitted and reviewed prior to the first day of practice. Tacoma Student Government Day

Tacoma Student Government Day is November 28, 2023. This is a great opportunity for our high school students to learn more about city government. Last year students took a walking tour with public works, went to the fire department training facility, visited Urban Waters, had lunch with the mayor and city council members, held a mock city council meeting, and were recognized at the real city council meeting.

Applications are due on November 19, 2023. To apply and/or read more about Student Government Day, please visit Student Government Day - City of Tacoma.

Have a wonderful week, Tigers!
