Good afternoon, Stadium Students and Families,
This is Principal Shannon Marshall with some important updates.
There will be a Stadium Booster meeting on Monday, October 9, 6:15-7:30 PM, in the Stadium library. If you're not able to attend in person, you may join by Zoom. See Stadium Boosters Club for more information!
On Tuesdays, Stadium staff show pride for their favorite post-high school institutions. Students, we would love to have you showcase your college wear, too.
Wednesday, October 11 is a Late Start Day. School will start promptly at 8:35 AM and buses will run one hour later.
Seniors will take the SAT on Wednesday, October 11. Seniors will report to the main gym by 8:35 AM.
There will be a Class of 2024 meeting with Jostens on Thursday, October 12 during 6th period. Seniors, report to your 6th period class, and then we will dismiss by intercom. Seniors who are off campus in the afternoon are encouraged to attend this meeting. Please arrive to campus no earlier than 1:30 PM.
There will be no school for students on Friday, October 13. This is a District Data Day for teacher professional development.
Next week, Stadium will have early release on Thursday, October 19 and Friday, October 20. We will host conferences for students and families on Thursday, October 19 from 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM and from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
SAT/PSAT at Stadium
All seniors will take the SAT at Stadium on Wednesday, October 11, and all juniors will take the PSAT at Stadium on Wednesday, October 18. These are late start days, so we will begin promptly at 8:35 AM.
All seniors and juniors at Stadium are automatically pre-registered for these exams. To alleviate barriers, there is no cost to families for these exams.
For the SAT, students should bring:
- Photo ID
- #2 pencils
- Acceptable calculator
Earning a qualifying score in math and/or English on the SAT will meet a graduation requirement. In addition, Tacoma Public Schools has a policy that allows us to use qualifying scores on the SAT and PSAT to retrieve necessary credits in math and English.
Here are some resources for your preparation:
If you have any questions about assessments at Stadium, please contact our Assessment Coordinator, Yvonne McCarty, at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Reminders from last week…
Be On Time
It is important for students to arrive on time every day. For our safety, the exterior doors at Stadium lock at 7:35 AM at the start of 1st period. All students with a 1st period class need to be inside the building before 7:35 AM.
Students who are scheduled for a partial day at Stadium may arrive no more than 10 minutes prior to their first class. Our exterior doors will open during the passing period for students to enter the building.
World Language Competency Exam
The World Language Competency Exam is an opportunity for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students to earn up to four (4.0) high school credits in a world language. Students may earn the Washington State Seal of Biliteracy when they demonstrate competency in English and a world language.
Students, are you a heritage speaker and fluent in reading, writing, listening, and speaking a language other than English? If so, we encourage you to schedule an exam with our school's World Language Assessment Liaison, Mrs. Kurkova. Please email her at email@example.com. The registration deadline is November 3. The exam will take place in December and those testing will receive more information.
Have a wonderful week, Tigers!
Shannon Marshall, Principal
Stadium High School
